I worked as a UX/UI designer on Lazer Hawk, contributing to both the game and the website. My role involved developing the design system and creating user flows to enhance the overall player and user experience. A key challenge was integrating NFTs into the website, ensuring a seamless connection and intuitive user interaction with NFT-related content. This involved designing clear onboarding flows, secure transaction processes, and informative content to help users understand and engage with the NFT ecosystem.
FEATURE CASE: Battle Pass System
As the UX designer on Lazer Hawk, my goal was to create a Battle Pass system that drives player engagement and progression while maintaining a seamless and intuitive experience. Designing a Battle Pass presents a unique challenge: it needs to motivate players to keep playing while balancing effort and reward without feeling like a grind. Additionally, the integration of NFTs and mintable items added another layer of complexity, requiring a secure and user-friendly system for managing and displaying blockchain-based rewards.
Variations

Challenges
From a UX perspective, the main challenges included:
- Clarity and Motivation: Ensuring players understand how the Battle Pass works at a glance, including how to earn rewards and track their progress.
- Balancing Free vs. Premium: Designing a fair and rewarding system that encourages players to engage with both free and premium tracks without creating a sense of pay-to-win.
- Player Retention: Structuring the progression and reward system to maintain long-term player interest without overwhelming them.
- NFT Integration: Introducing NFT-based rewards and mintable items in a way that feels natural and non-intrusive to players unfamiliar with blockchain technology.

Outcome
The Battle Pass design increased player engagement by offering a clear sense of progression and meaningful rewards. The intuitive UI allowed players to easily track their progress, understand reward tiers, and feel motivated to engage with both free and premium content. The NFT integration added a new dimension to the player experience, providing collectible and mintable rewards that increased player investment and retention. Feedback from player testing highlighted the clarity of the design and the balanced reward system, contributing to increased player retention and overall satisfaction.
In Game

Website Intergration
n addition to the in-game design, I collaborated with other UX designers on the Lazer Hawk website to support the Battle Pass and NFT system. We focused on creating a seamless experience where players could track their Battle Pass progression, view available rewards, and claim NFT-based items directly from the website. The challenge was to design a user-friendly interface that integrated blockchain elements without overwhelming players unfamiliar with NFTs.
Our approach involved streamlining the minting process with clear step-by-step guidance and real-time feedback to ensure secure and transparent transactions. We also ensured that the website maintained visual consistency with the game, using a cohesive design system and intuitive navigation. Real-time updates on player progress and available rewards reinforced player motivation and created a consistent experience across platforms. Feedback from user testing highlighted the ease of use and clarity of the design, contributing to higher player engagement with the website and in-game systems.
